Changes within the coaching team and backroom staff at FCA
Fröhling appointed as new assistant coach
FC Augsburg have made minor changes within the coaching and backroom staff as the team heads toward the second half of the Bundesliga season. Alexander Frankenberger will remain in the role of assistant coach of the first team until the end of this campaign. Fabio Leutenecker will return to his position as assistant coach of the FCA U17s, as had been expected.
Frank Fröhling will fill the newly empty shoes in the coaching staff. The 47-year-old will bring a wealth of experience to FCA as assistant coach, having most recently held the same role at TSG Hoffenheim until July of last year. Prior to that, Fröhling had worked at SC Paderborn, FC Schalke 04 and Hamburger SV, among other sides.
There has also been a change within the backroom staff: Quirin Löppert, who had performed the role of head of athletics at the club, has left FC Augsburg at his own request and will return to his hometown club FC Bayern München. The rehabilitation and athletics department will continue to be led by Andreas Bäumler, Frank Roßner and Christian Hahn.
