Ribeiro: “We did a great job”
Post-match reaction following the 2-2 draw with Bayern
FC Augsburg delivered a committed performance against the German record champions and were rewarded with a deserved point. Read all the post-match reaction.
Robin Fellhauer: “We definitely would have taken a 2-2 draw before the game. We had a fair bit of luck at times, especially in the second half, so we can be happy with the point and proud of the team. Everyone fought for one another, and it was a real team performance. The fact that I could play my part by scoring the fastest goal in Bundesliga history makes it even more special. It’s an incredible feeling to now be part of something so significant.”
Rodrigo Ribeiro: “It was a tough game for us. We delivered a really strong first half showing, while the second half wasn’t quite as good. The important thing, though, was that we got a point. The coach told us that anything is possible – it’s still 11 against 11. Scoring against Bayern is obviously special. I’m really pleased with my goal and for the fans in the stadium. I think we did a great job overall.”
Calvin Brackelmann: “I really enjoyed the game today, even though it was extremely tiring. We knew we had to stay fully switched on for the whole 90 minutes and defend as a collective. We definitely had the bit of luck you need with Bayern’s disallowed goals, but I still think we deserved the point.”
Finn Dahmen: “When you’re ahead during the game and only come away with a point, it’s always a little disappointing. Even so, we put in a good performance against the best team in Germany today and had a bit of luck on our side at times too – sometimes you need that. We did particularly well in the first half, and towards the end we threw absolutely everything into defending our goal. I’m proud of the lads.”
Hennes Behrens: “It was an incredibly intense game. We were really looking forward to it before kick-off and I think you could see that on the pitch. We all gave absolutely everything, enjoyed defending together and still kept looking for opportunities to get forward. The support from the fans was brilliant. It was great fun, even though it was incredibly intense.”
Manuel Baum (FC Augsburg head coach): “We played with heart, passion and huge intensity today and supported each other throughout the game. We gave very little away in the first half. We didn’t fall apart after the equaliser either – quite the opposite. Calvin Brackelmann, one of our centre-backs, even got forward and we made it 2-1. Of course, we also had the luck we needed late on with four goals ruled out for offside. Even so, it was a brave performance and we put together some really good passages of play. You can’t go out and just try to defend everything over 90 minutes against a team like that.”
Vincent Kompany (FC Bayern head coach): “It was one of those days when millimetres and the smallest details made the difference. Those fine margins often determine which way a game swings. In quite a few situations, we only had ourselves to blame because we didn’t deal with things cleanly or decisively enough. Even so, it was a very intense, emotional game with plenty of memorable moments. I think the supporters got their money’s worth today.”
