Day three of FC Augsburg’s training camp in Alicante saw coach Manuel Baum welcome another player to his sessions. Alfred Finnbogason, who became a dad for the second time back home in Augsburg on Thursday, flew to Spain on Saturday evening and completed his first light session earlier on Sunday. Despite a number of flights departing Munich airport being cancelled due to the snow, there were no problems for Alfred Finnbogason, who arrived at the team hotel around midnight. “I’m really grateful to FCA for allowing me two spend a couple of days at home with my wife and my now two kids,” said Finnbogason. “Everything went smoothly and my wife is already out of the hospital.” The Iceland international would obviously have loved to have stayed at home to help out the family, but his nearly two year old daughter Viktoria and new-born Emil will have to make do without papa over the next few days. “Fortunately, my in-laws are there and can help out my wife.” Finnbogason anticipates intense training camp During the training camp in Alicante, Finnbo’s focus will be on getting in shape with the rest of the team. “We all know the severity of the situation. We need to get back to winning ways. We have played well, but we need to start picking up more points. We will work hard here in Spain and during the Rückrunde to make sure that starts happening.”
