First Team 29.03.2021, 10:22

A successful weekend for the Augsburg boys! Michael Gregoritsch’s Austria and Ruben Vargas’ Switzerland both picked up wins in World Cup qualifying.

After falling behind to the Faroe Islands (Sonni Ragnar Nattestad, 19’), Austria came back to celebrate a 3-1 victory. Leverkusen’s Aleksandar Dragovic (30’), Hoffenheim’s Christoph Baumgartner (37’) and Stuttgart’s Sasa Kalajdzic (44’) swung the game before half-time. Michael Gregoritsch came on as a substitute after an hour of play. Austria are second in their group with four points from two games.

Switzerland picked up a second win from as many games, with Xherdan Shaqiri scoring the only goal of the game after just two minutes. Ruben Vargas started the game and came off in the closing stages. Switzerland are top of their group with maximum points so far.
