

Sandro Wagner appointed FCA’s new head coach
37-year-old signs three-year contract
FC Augsburg have hired Sandro Wagner as their new head coach, with the 37-year-old agreeing a three-year contract. Wagner put pen to paper on a deal valid until 30th June 2028 on Wednesday.
“We’re delighted to have secured Sandro Wagner as FCA’s new head coach – he lives and breathes football. Sandro is highly ambitious and fully committed to the direction of our club. He’s already shown in his previous jobs that he can develop teams and players. Sandro is extremely meticulous and knows how to motivate a team with his passion. We’re looking forward to working together with him,” said FCA’s CEO Michael Ströll.
“My goal was to work as a head coach in the Bundesliga. My conversations with the club convinced me that this role at FC Augsburg was the perfect move for me. FCA have a clear philosophy, one that perfectly suits my style of play. I’m a young coach and I want to develop myself together with the club. The setup here in Augsburg is perfect for that. Like me, FCA are very ambitious and have strong structures and a great environment. There is a lot of potential in the team and I’m looking forward to working with them,” commented Sandro Wagner.

Sandro Wagner made over 300 competitive appearances during his player career, representing the German national team, FC Bayern Munich, TSG Hoffenheim and Hertha BSC among others. Wagner, who won the Bundesliga on three occasions and the DFB-Pokal twice, played under a number of top coaches, including the likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Ottmar Hitzfeld, Niko Kovac and Jupp Heynckes.
