Oxford: “Going into the summer break in good spirits”

Post-match reaction to 2-1 win against Fürth

First Team 14.05.2022, 19:33

FC Augsburg capped off their season with a 2-1 win over SpVgg Greuther Fürth. “We’re going into the summer break in good spirits,” said Reece Oxford after his side secured the three points.

André Hahn: “Our aim was to win the game and we have rounded off our season well. Overall, we never really had a consistent period, there we some highs and many lows. But when it came down to it, we delivered when we needed to. Staying in the league was our priority and we achieved it.”

Michael Gregoritsch: “We wanted to sign off with a home win, so we are happy in that sense. We had lots of difficult moments in what was at times a difficult season. In the end, we achieved our goal of staying in the division."

Rafal Gikiewicz: “Next season will be our twelfth in a row in the topflight. That is a huge success for our club. I am not overjoyed about the game today. It was much like our entire season, with highs and lows. We need to play better football next season so we can secure our safety earlier. I am pleased that we are back to normality and that our fans can attend games more regularly next season.”

Reece Oxford: “It was a great feeling to win today. The atmosphere inside the stadium was great. Getting the win was important so that we could go into the summer break in good spirits and finish our season on a high. I wish Niklas Dorsch all the best and I hope he recovers quickly.”

Florian Niederlechner: "After defeats to Hertha and to Köln in our previous home games it was important to show a response. So in that sense, it is good that we won the game. In the end, there is a sense of relief and of joy that we are staying in the division and now we can look forward to another season in the Bundesliga."
