Nathanaël Mbuku moves to Montpellier on loan
Deal includes option to buy
Nathanaël Mbuku will play for Montpellier HSC in 2025/26 after moving to the French side on a season-long loan deal. Montpellier will have the option to buy the 23-year-old, who recently returned to FCA after a loan spell at Dinamo Zagreb.
Mbuku joined FCA in the winter of 2023. During the second half of that campaign, the attacker was loaned out to AS Saint-Étienne and celebrated promotion to Ligue 1 in summer 2024. After a spell in Croatia with Zagreb, Mbuku will have the chance to impress once again in Ligue 2.
“Nathanaël has already been successful in Ligue 2 and helped AS Saint-Etienne achieve promotion to the first division with his goals. When the opportunity arose for him to move back to France, he came to us and expressed the desire to take this chance. We wish him all the best for his time there,” said FCA’s CEO Michael Ströll.
Nathanaël Mbuzu added, “Unfortunately, my stint at Dinamo Zagreb didn’t go how I wanted it to. That’s why I’m looking forward to moving back to France. In Montpellier, I want to play regularly again and build on my past performances.”
