Uduokhai: "The lads have made it really easy for me"

After arriving in Augsburg on a Wednesday, Felix Uduokhai had precious little time to settle in before he was in the starting XI against Bremen on the Saturday. With the international break behind him, FCA’s new centre-back spoke to us about his first few weeks at the club, the U21 European Championship and the upcoming home game against Frankfurt. Felix, how would you describe yourself as a person? What do you like to do in your free time? I’m a family man first and foremost and I like to spend my free time with my friends. My faith in Jesus Christ is also very important to me. I love music, like listening to Hip Hop and going to concerts. Aside from that I’m a very chilled out person. Managing director Stefan Reuter revealed in an interview that FCA wanted to sign you in 2017. How come it didn’t materialise back then? I had a lot of offers at the time, including one from VfL Wolfsburg. I was convinced that this was the right step for me. I am very grateful for the two years I spent there, but I am glad that the road has now led me to FCA.
I think this is the kind of game where things could get wild very quickly. Felix Uduokhai
You had an eventful summer. The U21 European Championship in Italy must have been a great experience. Tournaments are always something really special and taking part in the EUROS was a dream come true. Despite unfortunately not playing any games, being part of it was special. I will always have fond memories of this tournament. Marco Richter was your teammate at the EUROS. That has to be an advantage when joining a new club. That is definitely an advantage, but I also knew other lads such as Flo Niederlechner, Rani Khedira and Julian Schieber. FCA are a good team, the lads have made it really easy for me and I’m not just saying that. Frankfurt have made a great start, with six points from three games. What kind of a game are you expecting? I think this is the kind of game where things could get wild very quickly. I also think it will be an interesting and exciting game.
