Uduokhai: “I still have much more to achieve with this team”
Felix Uduokhai has three competitive appearances to his name already for FC Augsburg and has played a huge part in stabilising the defence. In an interview with FCA Fan-TV, the defender spoke about the team’s targets for the season and the coming home fixture against Bayer 04 on Saturday 28th September (15:30 CEST).
Having only conceded once in their last two fixtures, Augsburg have certainly put in a great defensive performance. Defender Felix Uduokhai has also noticed an increased level of quality at the back: “We’ve definitely improved defensively in recent games. We’ve been much more compact as a team and our communication has been much better, as has our coordination.” Martin Schmidt’s side certainly benefitted from a longer break after the game against Bremen - FCA haven’t lost a game since. The Fuggerstädter are now looking to make improvements going forward, because there is still a ways to go in that regard. ”I think that will be our next focus," said 22-year-old Uduokhai. He is pleased that he could make such a good start personally, but he has "still much to achieve with the team and has to grab more goals."
Uduokhai on the head to head record with Bayer 04: "We have to change that"
The next opportunity to implement these changes comes this weekend with the upcoming home game against Leverkusen. FCA have never got three points against these opponents. "We have to change that," commented Uduokhai. "Leverkusen are a top team, but I think that with our supporters behind us and the great atmosphere in the stadium, we have a big advantage, which we have to combine with a good performance. I'm looking forward to the game and I'm absolutely positive we’ll get the result."
