U21 Euros: Marco Richter defeated in European Championship final

First Team 01.07.2019, 06:04
In the U21 European Championship final, FCA player Marco Richter faced a 2-1 defeat to Spain with his native Germany. The Spaniards lifted the U21 trophy in Udine. FCA player Marco Richter came into the game in the 72nd minute. He could see from the bench in the first half that the Germany U21s were finding the game difficult and had a few problems against a strong Spain side. Spain took a quick but deserved lead when Fabián hit an impressive strike in the 7th minute. He charged forward with a solo run and shot from 20 metres out to give Spain the lead. After 20 minutes or so, Stefan Kuntz’s team started to get into the game and make chances. Spain’s 1-0 lead, however, remained until the half-time whistle. After the break the situation hadn’t changed, as the Germany U21s had more possession and control of the game. However, they didn’t really challenge Antonio Sivera’s net. The Spaniards concentrated on defensive work and tried to break on the counter. In one of these attacks, Dani Olmo (69’) pounced on some poor handling from Nübel, finishing from close range to make it 2-0. In the closing minutes, Marco Richter came onto the pitch, however the Augsburg man wasn’t able to prevent Germany’s defeat. Nadim Amiri (88’) managed to get what was eventually a consolation goal with a long-range effort that was nicked into the net off a Spanish defender.
