The 2021/22 season has come to its conclusion. Let’s take a look back at some of the most significant statistics from FCA’s campaign. Here, we look back on the players with the most goals.
Michael Gregoritsch failed to find the net in his first twelve Bundesliga games. However, after a dry start to the campaign, the Austrian found his shooting boots and fired himself to the top of Augsburg’s goalscorer charts. He scored a total of nine goals across the season, his first coming in the 97th minute in a 1-1 draw against Hertha BSC. Gregoritsch also scored the winner on the final day of the season against Greuther Fürth.
Florian Niederlechner and André Hahn are joint-second on the list, with five goals each. While Niederlechner scored Augsburg’s first two goals of the campaign, Hahn had to wait until matchday 12 before he opened his account for the season. It was, however, worth the wait, as he scored what proved to be the decisive goal in a 2-1 win over record champions FC Bayern.
The three forwards are closely followed by Daniel Caligiuri, who scored four goals across the campaign. Caligiuri, who was predominantly utilised as a right wing back, converted three times from penalty spot and scored a particularly important goal in a 1-0 win over relegation rivals Arminia Bielefeld back in March.
