Young Augsburg side lose first double header against Wolfsburg

Defeat for Colina on debut

First Team 14.01.2023, 14:43

A week before the return of the Bundesliga, FC Augsburg took on league rivals VfL Wolfsburg in a double header. The first game ended in a 4-0 defeat.

A number of academy players were involved in the first of two matches to take place at the training pitches at the WWK-ARENA. David Colina also started the game following the announcement of his arrival from HNK Hajduk Split in the morning.

Daniel Caligiuri had to pull out of the game against his former side and was replaced by Daniel Katic. Enrico Maaßen’s side went behind early on against a strong opposition team when Lucas Ambros (10’) and Felix Nmecha (12’) each found the back of the net. FCA’s Mert Kömür came the closest to narrowing the defecit when his long shot hit the outside of the post after half an hour.

The visitors continued to control in the second half and Ridle Baku made it 3-0 in the 49th minute, before doubling his tally six minutes later. New signing Colina departed the game after 65 minutes and made way for Wegmann. There were no more goals at either end and the game ended 4-0 to the visitors.

FCA: Koubek – Katic, Bauer, Winther, Colina (65' Wegmann) – Petkov, Kücüksahin, Dell’Erba, Kömür – Mbila, Ivanovic

Goals: 0-1 Ambros (10'), 0-2 F. Nmecha (12'), 0-3 Baku (49'), 0-4 Baku (55')
