Niederlechner: "We've taken a huge step"

First Team 16.06.2020, 08:56

In FCA’s 1-0 away win against Mainz 05, Florian Niederlechner scored what proved to be the winner after just 43 seconds. Ahead of the match against TSG Hoffenheim, (Wednesday 17th June, 20:30 CEST), the goalscorer spoke to FCA Fan-TV about the important three points gained against the Zerofivers and the game against Hoffenheim.

”It’s a huge feeling of relief and it’s taken a lot of pressure off us,” exclaims Florian Niederlechner, describing how he feels after 90 minutes of intense action in Mainz. “We knew before the match how important this game is and we’ve taken a huge step.” He was also happy about his goal, of course. “I’m happy that I was able to score again, but it’s more important that we won the game.”

Against Hoffenheim, FCA can avoid relegation with a win. “We absolutely want to win,” said Niederlechner. “If we can’t be caught up, we can celebrate.” The 29-year-old will have fond memories of the reverse fixture in December, where the striker assisted all four of Augsburg’s goals in their 4-2 away win.
