Moravek send-off ahead of Hertha game
The Bundesliga matchday 5 is around the corner. After three defeats in a row, FC Augsburg want to get on the right track when they host Hertha BSC on Saturday. Head coach Enrico Maaßen spoke to the media ahead of the game.
“We have to create more danger in front of goal and be more ambitious,” said Maaßen, looking abck to the 1-0 away defeat against TSG Hoffenheim, a game where his side lost possession too often in their own half. Maaßen wants to avoid a repeat of that against the side from the capital, who have “three very fast players” in Dodi Lukebakio, Wilfried Kanga and Chidera Ejuke.
With the transfer window having drawn to a close this week, FCA were able to welcome an attacking addition in Mergim Berisha. “Mergim is a great finisher and will enhance our game with his intelligence and physicality,” said the head coach, who is pleased with his squad. At the same time, the 38-year-old is sure that Ricardo Pepi (FC Groningen), Maurice Malone (Wolfsberger SC) and Henri Koudossou (Austria Lustenau) will “get match practice at the highest level” during their loan spells.
Maaßen is able to call on André Hahn and Robert Gumny for the game against Hertha, who only have one point to their name, despite good performances in their first four league games. Fredrik Jensen is still a doubz after suffering a head injury in the game against Hoffenheim, while Frederik Winther will miss out with a muscle strain. Despite that, Maaßen is enthusiastic about the game in front of a home crowd, “it will be a tough task, but we want to give our fans the first home win.”
Jan Moravek will also be in the stadium on Sunday, accompanied by his family. The midfielder, who wore Augsburg colours for a total of ten years, will be given an official departure ahead of the game. The 32-year-old left the club upon expiry of his contract last season and is currently playing for Bohemians 1905.
