Ismaël Gharbi joins FCA on loan

FCA have made a second signing on deadline day. 21-year-old attacker Ismaël Gharbi has joined the Fuggerstädter on loan until the end of the season from Portuguese top-flight outfit S.C. Braga. FCA also have an option to buy the player. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose the full details of the loan move.
Gharbi, who is the son of a Tunisian father and a Spanish mother, was born in Paris and came through the youth academy at Paris Saint-Germain. In May 2022, the winger made his league debut for PSG while playing alongside Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé in a 2-2 draw with Troyes. After 12 competitive games and two league titles, Gharbi signed on loan for Swiss side Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy, where he recorded seven goals and six assists in 31 matches. Ahead of the 2024/25 season, the 21-year-old moved to Portugal to join S.C. Braga, where he scored four goals and provided six assists in 38 appearances.
Good in one-vs-one situations and a flexible attacker
“In Ismaël, we’ve signed an attacking player who is an accomplished dribbler. Despite being just 21 years old, he’s already experienced at the highest level. His excellence in one-vs-one situations and his flexibility will be huge assets to our game,” said FCA sporting director Benni Weber.
“When the offer came in from FC Augsburg, it was clear to me that I wanted to take this opportunity. FCA are an ambitious club whose style of play suits me very well. I’m really looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga, and I want to impress on the pitch with my mentality and creativity. I can’t wait to meet the fans at the stadium,” said Ismaël Gharbi, who will wear the number 11 shirt for FCA.
After signing his contract, Gharbi will immediately join up with the Tunisian national team, where he will meet his new FCA teammate Elias Saad. The 21-year-old previously made multiple appearances for the youth sides of both Spain and France.
