Heiko Herrlich regrets his misconduct

First Team 14.05.2020, 13:53

At today’s press conference ahead of FC Augsburg’s match against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday (15:30 CEST), head coach Heiko Herrlich claimed that he had left the team hotel for a short while. In doing so, he broke the quarantine rules laid out by the hygiene protocol introduced by the DFL task force in order to allow the season to resume.

"I made a mistake in leaving the hotel. Even though I observed the hygiene measures both leaving the hotel and otherwise, I cannot undo this act. In this situation, I did not act like a role model to my team and the public," regrets Heiko Herrlich. "I will therefore act with consistency and acknowledge my mistake. Due to my misconduct, I will not take tomorrow’s training, nor will I lead the team against Wolfsburg on Saturday."

Further corona tests will be carried out in the coming days. Heiko Herrlich will return to FC Augsburg training following two negative test results.
