Han-Noah Massengo releases exhibition and photobook

Behind-the-scenes look at professional football

First Team 06.07.2026, 15:00

What does everyday life look like behind the scenes at a Bundesliga club? Han-Noah Massengo explores that question in his photo project “Anyone knows how to say behind the scenes in German?”. The FC Augsburg midfielder spent the 2025/26 season capturing special moments on camera that are rarely seen in the world of professional football.

The result is an extraordinary and deeply personal insight into life as a professional footballer, which Han-Noah Massengo and FC Augsburg are now bringing to life in the form of an exhibition and photo book. From Friday, 10th July, selected images will be on display at Ecke Galerie, Elias-Holl-Platz 6, Augsburg. The exhibition runs until Saturday, 8th August, and admission is free. The gallery is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 12:00 to 18:00 and on Saturdays from 11:00 to 17:00.

Analogue photography across 156 pages

A photo book will be released at the same time, bringing together 156 pages of photographs taken exclusively by Han-Noah Massengo, accompanied by personal and, at times, humorous comments from the player himself. Produced in collaboration with FC Augsburg, the book is available for €29.95 from the FCA online shop, the FCA fan shops and Ecke Galerie.

For FCA fans and photography enthusiasts alike, the project offers a unique perspective. Using his analogue camera, Han-Noah Massengo has captured a wide range of emotional and authentic moments – from matchdays and victories to daily life in the dressing room, his contract signing and his own personal impressions of Augsburg.

“With the exhibition and photo book, I want to give our fans an honest and personal insight into our everyday life. Before I became a professional footballer myself, I often wondered what life as a player was really like. With these pictures, I wanted to explore exactly that perspective and help close the gap between players and fans a little,” explained Han-Noah Massengo, who was born in Villepinte, near Paris.

FCA CEO Michael Ströll said: “Together with Han-Noah Massengo, we have brought to life a project that offers a very special perspective. It shows that his creativity reaches beyond the football pitch. He is one of the first professional footballers to step forward as an artist and photographer in his own right. For our fans, the exhibition and photo book are a special opportunity to gain a personal look behind the scenes of a professional footballer’s life at FC Augsburg.”

Jana Schwindel, chairwoman of KVA Die Ecke e.V., praised Han-Noah Massengo’s work: “Han-Noah Massengo’s analogue photographs act as a space for memory. They also have an almost melancholic aesthetic – sometimes in colour, sometimes in black and white. When a footballer picks up the camera himself, the perspective shifts. This is not a journalistic view or classic sports photography, but the viewpoint of an insider.”

Accompanying collection and FineArt prints

The project is complemented by the “FCA x HNM” collection, featuring DIN A6 postcards as well as black and white T-shirts designed with photo motifs by Han-Noah Massengo.

Selected photographs will also be available to purchase as high-quality prints on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta 325 g/m² paper. The numbered prints, including certificate, are available in 30 x 40 cm, 40 x 60 cm and 60 x 80 cm formats. Further information on the available motifs and formats can be found in the exhibition brochure on site.

All net proceeds will be donated to a good cause. FC Augsburg and Han-Noah Massengo will announce the specific donation recipient at a later date.
