Hahn: “I’m on the right track”

The attacker is back after his time on the sidelines with illness

First Team 07.01.2021, 10:00

André Hahn missed the last four games of 2020 after testing positive for the coronavirus, but now the 30-year-old is back with the team and feeling fit and ready to go again.

“There were ups and downs,” says André Hahn as he sums up his time out with the virus. The attacker tested positive in early December and has been in quarantine at home ever since. “It’s not been easy just sitting about at home, but I have enjoyed spending some time together with the family.” Despite this positive, Hahn found it difficult to watch his teammates’ games on TV: “I’m a bad spectator and I suffered a lot not being able to help the team.”

Fortunately, Hahn only suffered mild symptoms and following two negative tests has rejoined the squad. “I’m doing really well again and feel like I’m in top shape. I’m not quite back to 100%, but I’m on the right track.”

Hahn on Stuttgart: “We want to widen that gap on Sunday”

The 30-year-old was back in time for the first match of the year against Köln and made his comeback to the Bundesliga off the bench in the 1-0 win. “I was really up for the game and was delighted to be back out there on the pitch.” Hahn followed up this appearance by scoring the winner in the friendly against SSV Jahn Regensburg that also finished 1-0. Before his time out with illness, Hahn had struck three times for FCA including a brace in the 3-1 home victory over Mainz 05.

The next Bundesliga matchday sees FC Augsburg take on VfB Stuttgart, a side directly below them in the table in 11th place. “Stuttgart are causing a bit of a stir at the moment. They play good football and definitely aren’t afraid to attack. It won’t be an easy game for us,” says Hahn as he looks ahead to the game. Nevertheless, he’s optimistic as he considers the challenge: “We’re having a good season as well and taking our chances. We’re one place above them in the standings and want to widen that gap on Sunday.”
