Finnbogason ready for Bayern

First Team 30.03.2017, 12:03
Following the draw against SC Freiburg at the WWK Arena on matchday 25 and the subsequent international break, Manuel Baum and his boys are full focused on the upcoming away match against FC Bayern München on Saturday, 1st April, (15:30 CEST). "We have decided on a game plan and we want to find the space early and cause them trouble."
The relegation battle is something on the minds of the whole team. "We are all aware of how the table looks, we discuss the negatives and are giving 100%, both in training and on the pitch." However, Baum is expecting a stronger side than the one that beat Augsburg 3-1 in the WWK Arena earlier in the season. "Bayern are playing better and are more stable now."
The team can at least look forward to the return of Alfred Finnbogason, who scored in the 1-1 friendly against Fürth after making his long-awaited comeback: "One positive is that we have everything in our own hands and we are familiar with this scenario. Experience doesn't bring points, but I'm convinced that we will get the points we need if we turn up."
The Iceland international feels ready to make his Bundesliga comeback and help pull his teammates out of danger. "I have been working hard since January and have had some good weeks. I feel better with every session and home to get back in the team as quickly as possible. I'm ready for the next important games, but I will definitely need a few matches to get back to my top level."
His return to action isn't the only thing the FCA striker had to be happy about this week, as his girlfriend Frida gave birth to a baby girl. "To become a father is a wonderful moment, but I can't tell you her name yet as it's a tradition in Iceland to announce it later," said Alfred proudly. The entire FCA family extends a warm welcome to our newest member!
The injury situation within the squad is slowly improving as well. As well as Alfred Finnbogason, Dominik Kohr, Daniel Baier and Jan Moravek are also "options for the match in Munich." The two 90-minute appearances during the international break also appear to have done Martin Hinteregger some good as he was able to regain fitness after his injury. Takashi Usami is also recovering with the Japan national team after his long international break.
