FCA extend Nathanaël Mbuku deal and agree loan move to Belgium

FC Augsburg have extended Nathanaël Mbuku’s contract, which had been due to run until 2027, by a further year. The 24-year-old attacker will also spend the rest of the season on loan at Belgian top-flight side VV St. Truiden, where he will have the opportunity to feature in the Conference League.
Mbuku, who represented DR Congo at the World Cup this summer, was included in the squad for both the DFB-Pokal tie in Cottbus and the Bundesliga opener against Schalke 04, but did not feature in either game. Last season, he made 30 Ligue 2 appearances for Montpellier HSC, scoring four goals and providing six assists.
“Extending Nathanaël’s contract and sending him on loan to St. Truiden gives him a good opportunity to get more valuable game time, including at European level, and continue his progress. We’ll be following his development closely and wish him an injury-free and successful season in Belgium,” explained FCA sporting director Benni Weber.
