FC Augsburg have secured 2-1 international break friendly victory against 2. Bundesliga side Dynamo Dresden. FCA fielded a mixture of players who are not on international duty as well as several academy players. Dynamo Dresden started the friendly as the stronger side and created the first chance through Erich Berko in the seventh minute. He backheeled the ball to Linus Wahlqvist who struck the ball against Gregor Kobel’s post. FCA created their first good opportunity in the 16th minute as Christoph Janker played in André Hahn with a long ball in behind and Saturday’s goalscorer fired a shot against the bar. FCA improved and started to dictate proceedings, Hahn going close to opening the scoring in the 21st minute after good work from Jonathan Schmid. Just a minute later, Augsburg did take the lead through French full-back Schmid, smashing the ball home after good build-up play from Hahn. FCA doubled their lead on the half-hour mark as U19s academy product Maurice Malone got on the end of another Hahn assist after good build-up play from Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, who started for the first time since returining from injury. Dresden then pulled a goal back before half-time as Berko played in Rico Benatelli, who fired the ball home to keep the visitors in the match (38’). Numerous second half changes as FCA academy players receive opportunity to impress Both teams made numerous changes at half-time as they went in search of more goals in the second half. FCA substitute Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker had the first chance of the second half but couldn’t convert in a one-on-one opportunity against Dresden goalkeeper Tim Boss. Dresden also went close equaliser through Erich Berko but Gouweleeuw was able to intervene with a last-gasp tackle to deny Justin Löwe (63’).  FCA youngster Seong-Hoon Cheon came off the bench to create FCA’s next opportunity, dribbling through the heart of the Dresden defence before squaring to fellow subsitute Stefano Russo. However, the Dresden goalkeeper was on hand to deny the FCA academy player (71’). Five academy players played in the friendly as Augsburg held on to secure a 2-1 win.
