FC Augsburg have strengthened their squad with the signing of Youngwoo Seol. The 27-year-old South Korea international joins FCA from FK Crvena zvezda and has signed a contract until 30th June 2030. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer.

Seol is a quick, dynamic player who can operate on either side. He made 101 competitive appearances for Red Star over the past two years, featuring not only in the Serbian SuperLiga but also in the Champions League and Europa League. He scored eight goals and provided 16 assists during that time.

Seol was also part of the South Korea squad at the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, starting all three group-stage matches. He has made 37 senior international appearances for his country to date.

Pace, versatility and experience

“Youngwoo brings plenty of experience at international level, both from European club competitions and with the national team. His versatility as a wing-back and his pace will give us another dimension, while also increasing the competition for places in the wide areas,” said FCA sporting director Benni Weber.

“I’m really looking forward to my time in Augsburg. The Bundesliga is a fantastic and extremely demanding league where I want to prove myself and continue to develop. I can’t wait to play in front of our fans at the WWK ARENA, show what I can bring to the team and work hard together to achieve our goals,” said Youngwoo Seol.

After Ja-Cheol Koo, Dong-Won Ji and Jeong-Ho Hong, Seol will become the fourth South Korean to represent FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga. The 27-year-old will wear the number 7 shirt for FCA.
