FCA defeat Regensburg 1-0

Sarenren Bazee scores the winner against second-tier side

FC Augsburg took time during the second international break to play a friendly against SSV Jahn Regensburg. The Fuggerstädter won the game 1-0 against the side currently second in 2. Bundesliga.

Even without the players who are away on international duty, FCA still had more of the ball and control of the game. However, Weinzierl’s team were lacking a cutting edge in the final third. Andi Zeqiri missed the best chance of the first half in the opening stages.

The home side finally took the lead just past the hour mark. Following a wonderful bit of build-up between Arne Maier and Zeqiri, Noah Sarenren Bazee finished to give FCA a 1-0 lead (67'). As the second half went on, coach Markus Weinzierl made several changes, but the Augsburg defence stood firm until the end and did not allow any dangerous chances.

As a result, the friendly ended 1-0 to FCA. Next up for Augsburg is a league game at home to Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday, 17th October (15:30 CEST).

FCA: Koubek, Pedersen (46’ Iago), Oxford (60’ Schmidt), Strobl, Maier (90’ Kömür), Morávek (46’ Civeja), Sarenren Bazee (70’ Pejcinovic), Zeqiri (83’ Cevis), Hahn (83’ Zehnter), Framberger, Salifou (75’ Dell'Erba)

Goal: 1-0 Sarenren Bazee (67’)
