FCA arrive in Austria for pre-season training camp

Fuggerstädter to spend nine days there

First Team 10.07.2022, 21:47

FC Augsburg have now been preparing for their 12th season in the Bundesliga for the last three weeks. Enrico Maaßen’s team travelled to Austria on Sunday for a nine-day training camp, presented by Flow Sports. The FCA players will continue their preparations at the Kaiser Mountains.

Maaßen has taken 32 players with him in order to have the squad together for an extended period. As well as the first teamers – of which academy products Aaron Zehnter and Henri Koudossou are now a part of – Josue Mbila, Mahmut Kücüksahin, Marcel Lubik and Fabio Gruber from the youth team have travelled to Austria. Reece Oxford, Lukas Petkov and Ruben Vargas have all made the journey too despite their recent injuries. They will complete their respective rehabilitation training plans in Austria as well. Lasse Günther, who suffered a thigh injury against Sandhausen recently and is out for several weeks, is also with the squad and will work on his recovery. The togetherness of the team is important for FCA and that means that when players can’t train they should still be close to their teammates.

The time during this training camp will be of particular importance to new signings Maximilian Bauer and Ermedin Demirovic. The aim is for them to integrate into the team as quickly as they can and get used to day-to-day life with FC Augsburg. Demirovic, who signed on Friday from SC Freiburg, trained with his new teammates for the first time in Scheffau.

Jeffrey Gouweleeuw was also on the training pitch and was given a round of applause by his teammates before the session. He celebrated his 31st birthday on Saturday.
