Uneven-sided games and a tournament
With FC Augsburg settled into their training camp in Algorfa, Thursday saw the first double training session of the week on the pitches. Focuses for the day were converting goalscoring chances and playing out from the back.
After a quick warm-up in the gym, the FCA first team stepped out onto the freshly watered pitch. Head coach Enrico Maaßen set up a drill over one half of the field, for the attackers to regain their shooting boots. Sergio Córdova and Ruben Vargas definitely showed that they know where the goal is, finding the corner many a time in the drill.
The attacking side of FCA’s game was further honed, in the second session of the day. An uneven-sided drill was on the agenda, with the goalkeepers showing off their skills and some exceptional saves. The final part of training consisted of a five-a-side tournament – the winning side consisted of Lukas Petkov, Felix Uduokhai, Ermedin Demirović, Marcel Lubik and new signing Arne Engels. A few FCA fans have travelled to Algorfa to be with the team – they were able to take pictures and get autographs from the players after the sessions came to an end.
