Following discussions with the club on Monday, FC Augsburg attacker Caiuby has been placed on gardening leave and is free to find another club. Caiuby held discussions with FC Augsburg on Monday, and the club reached its conclusion after the Brazilian attacker returned to the squad late after Christmas. Caiuby failed to return due to private reasons and missed Augsburg’s winter training camp in Alicante as a result. “A fundamental value of our club is that we discuss issues privately before we discuss matters publically. Consequently, we are only disclosing the matter now the discussions have ended,” said FC Augsburg sporting director Stefan Reuter. “Fundamentally, we show a lot of sympathy to players who are suffering private problems. However, we couldn’t fully comprehend and tolerate Caiuby’s situation. His conduct has damaged FC Augsburg as a club, especially the team, who had fully supported him despite his misconduct,” added Reuter. The club have offered the Brazilian the chance to train alone, away from the rest of the first team squad. It is up to Caiuby to accept or decline this.
