Baum: “Our aim is to return home with all three points”

First Team 11.09.2018, 18:39
Some FCA players are currently on international duty, however the rest of the squad have prepared intensely for the upcoming away fixture against FSV Mainz 05. After Tuesday’s training session, head coach Manuel Baum gave his opinion on… …our next opponent FSV Mainz 05: Mainz have been very flexible in the way they have played in their past two games. They have lots of new players in their squad. We must prepare extremely well for the game because our aim is to return home with all three points. We will definitely not play the same way we did against Borussia Mönchengladbach because Mainz have a completely different playing style compared to Gladbach. Mainz are physically strong that have technically gifted players in the middle of the park. They will be a tough nut to crack. I believe the game will be decided on the mindset of the team rather on tactic. …Marco Richter: It is great for the whole club that we have a player in the squad who plays for Germany U21s. The feedback from the national team coach has been very, very positive. Marco is developing well but he is keeping his feet on the ground. It also sends a great message to our academy players. …Caiuby’s recovery: He can now join in with parts of training but he has to sit out of certain drills. He has not managed to shrug off his knee injury therefore it is difficult to say whether he will be involved against Mainz. We do not want to risk anything. …the injured Alfred Finnbogason: Finnbogason is not in contention for the Mainz game. His return date has not been confirmed yet but it will be a while. It is a positive sign that he is back on the training pitch again. His recovery has been good but he is not ready to join in team training again.
