 FC Augsburg got back to winning ways on Wednesday night at Arminia Bielefeld. After five matches without a victory, Heiko Herrlich’s side won 1-0 thanks to a late Jeffrey Gouweleeuw goal.

Three days after the 2-2 draw to FC Schalke 04, Heiko Herrlich made three changes. Reece Oxford got his first start of the season in defence, with Marco Richter and Michael Gregoritsch also coming into the side after combining for the last-ditch equaliser against Schalke. Robert Gumny and Ruben Vargas were given a rest, while Florian Niederlechner was banned, having seen two yellows on Sunday.

Richter cleared the bar in the 58th minute and Fabian Kunze headed wide for the hosts eight minutes later. Marcel Hartel couldn’t break the deadlock in the 67th minute, before Robert Gumny’s strike wasn’t accurate enough (71’).
