After 1-1 draw against Ivory Coast
The Germany national team, which included Felix Uduokhai and Marco Richter, have been eliminated from the Olympic Games. A 1-1 draw against Ivory Coast in the final group game was not enough to secure qualification to the quarter-finals
A win was needed in order to qualify from the group and began the game in positive fashion with Felix Uduokhai and Marco Richter in the starting XI. The best chance of the first half fell to Ragnar Ache, who saw his header hit the crossbar in the 26th minute.
Ivory Coast took the lead in the second half through a Benjamin Henrichs own goal (67’). Germany’s reply came soon after, when Eduard Löwen equalised with a free kick (73’). In the closing stage of the game, Stefan Kuntz’s side were unable to double their tally and turn the game.
After one win, one draw and one defeat from three games, Germany end the group stage in third place on four points, missing out on the quarter-finals.
