Ten FC Augsburg players called up for international duty

After FC Augsburg’s 2-1 away defeat to TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday, the third international break of theseason is upon us. Ten FCA players will represent their respective national teams on international duty over the next fortnight. FCA academy graduate Simon Asta has been called up to represent Germany U18s at their training camp in Cyprus. Frank Kramer’s side will face Cyprus U21s in a friendly on Thursday, 15th November before facing Cypriot club Apollon Limassol’s U19s side in a second friendly on Sunday 18th November. Felix Götze has also been called up to represent Germany U20s for their upcoming friendlies. Götze will travel with the squad to Sassuolo to face Italy on Thursday, 15th November before taking on England in Colchester on Monday, 19th November. Marco Richter returns to the Germany U21s squad for their friendlies at home against the Netherlands and away against Italy. Stefan Kuntz’s side have already qualified for next summer’s U21s European Championships and the fixtures against the Netherlands in Offenbach (Thursday, 15th November) and Italy in Reggio Emilia (Sunday, 18th November) could give Richter the opportunity to secure his place in the squad ahead of next year’s tournament. Ja-Cheol Koo will travel to Australia with his South Korean teammates for two friendlies. South Korea will take on Australia on Saturday, 17th Novemeber before facing Uzbekistan on Tuesday, 20th November. Following his return from injury and making his FCA debut last weekend, Fredrik Jensen has been called up to the Finland squad. The 21 year old will travel to Athens and Budapest with the national team to take on Greece (Thursday, 15th November) and Hungary (Sunday, 18th November) in the UEFA Nations League. Finland currently lead Group Two in League C and have a good oportunitiy to secure promotion to League B. Martin Hinteregger and Michael Gregoritsch are both in the Austria squad for their two final UEFA Nations League matches. Austria will face Bosnia-Herzegovina in Vienna on Thursday, 15th November before travelling to Belfast to take on Northern Ireland on Sunday, 18th November. Currently in second place in Group Three in League B, Austria still have a chance at promotion. Kevin Danso has also been called up to represent Austria as their U21s side prepare for play-offs to qualify for next year’s European Championships. Danso will hope to feature in the matches home and away against Greece. Austria U21s will travel to Thessaloniki for the first leg on Friday, 16th November before hosting the second leg in Vienna on Tuesday, 20th November. Alfred Finnbogason and his Iceland teammates will travel to Belgium for two matches during the international break. Iceland will firstly face Belgium in their final UEFA Nations League clash in Brussels on Thursday, 18th November. Finnbogason’s national team are currently in last place in Group Two in League A and have already been relegated to League B ahead of the next edition of the tournament. Iceland’s second match is a friendly against Qatar on Sunday, 18th November. Sergio Córdova has been called up to represent Venezuela in their friendly away in Japan. Córdova will hope to feature in the friendly on Friday, 16th November.
