Moravek after his comeback: "It was a great feeling"

First Team 07.02.2018, 00:27
Despite a number of absences, Augsburg produced a good performance to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0. In the thick of things: Jan Movarek came in to replace the suspended Rani Khedira for his first appearance since matchday 5. The last time Jan Movarek was in the starting line-up for Augsburg was nearly five months ago. His previous start was way back in September in the 1-0 home victory against Leipzig. That was followed up by a substitute appearance against Stuttgart and two other brief outings. He was given the opportunity to start against next to captain Daniel Baier due to the suspension of Rani Khedira. He relished his opportunity with some good play and strong tackles. "It was a great feeling but not easy, as I haven't played that many minutes for a long time," said Moravek. "How I played showed I lack game time but I gave it my all and after the match I was happy with my performance and pleased I could help the team." In fact, with his robust playing-style, Moravek was able to break Frankfurt's play down and nullify a lot of the creativity they have in midfield. Moravek: "I'm not the kind of guy to make a big deal out of things." The last few months has been a completely new experience for Jan Moravek. "I was used to being in and out of the team when I was fit," explained Moravek but the 28-year-old never didn't ever let that topsy turvy period get him down. "I'm not the kind of guy to make a big deal out of things but I just tried to give my all to the team in training," said the midfielder, adding, "I always felt like I was a part of this squad." On Friday 9th February at 20:30 CET Augsburg travel to Leipzig. "They have amazing individual talent and are quality going forward," says Moravek, analysing the upcoming opponents. " But we're not an easy team to play against. I am sure that our coach will set us up well to play against them and us as players will deliver a good performance." Rani Khedira is eligible to play again after his suspension but Moravek is hoping to be given another start. "I gave everything when I got my chance - but we'll have to see what the coach thinks."
