Manuel Baum will remain FC Augsburg head coach until the end of the season. The 46-year-old reached an agreement with the club after good conversations over the past few days.

Baum, who is Head of Development & Football Innovation at FCA, took on the role of interim head coach on 1st December. Under his leadership, the team have been solid in the past three matches, conceding just once and picking up points against the likes of last season’s second-placed side Bayer Leverkusen. He was previously head coach of FCA from 2016 to 2019, and helped to develop a number of youth prospects during this time. Marco Richter, Raphael Framberger and Kevin Danso were among those to make their Bundesliga debuts under him.

“We’re convinced that Manuel Baum is exactly the right coach for the current situation at FC Augsburg. He has our full confidence and we’re very pleased that Manuel has agreed to continue in this role until the end of the season. He’s done a lot of good work since he took over at the start of December. We want to build on that together in 2026,” said FCA CEO Michael Ströll.

“Our performances under Manuel Baum have given us belief that we can have a successful season,” said FCA sporting director Benni Weber. “Manuel also fits perfectly with our philosophy of developing the team further and giving enough opportunities to young players. He’s already shown in the past that he can do that.”

Manuel Baum himself added: “I’ve really enjoyed working with the team, so I’m delighted to be staying on as FCA head coach for a bit longer. However, it’s also important to me that I eventually return to my previous role. Until then, we will do everything we can during the short winter break to make sure we have a successful season.”
