Lasse Günther joins Elversberg
Permanent departure from Augsburg
Lasse Günther has completed an immediate move to SV Elversberg. The 22-year-old left-back, who spent last season on loan at Karlsruher SC, will continue his career in the 2. Bundesliga. Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the details of the transfer fee.
Günther joined FC Augsburg from the FC Bayern München’s U19s ahead of the 2021/22 season. He made five Bundesliga appearances and featured twice in the DFB-Pokal for the Fuggerstädter. In order to gain more first-team experience, the Munich-born defender was sent out on loan several times – including spells with SSV Jahn Regensburg, SV Wehen Wiesbaden, and most recently Karlsruher SC, where he made 20 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga, scoring once and providing two assists.
“Lasse took his first steps in the Bundesliga with FCA, but unfortunately, minor injuries kept interrupting his progress over the past few years. Now he wants to take on a new challenge in the 2. Bundesliga with Elversberg, and we’re happy to support that. We thank him for his efforts here in Augsburg and wish him all the best and every success for the future,” said FC Augsburg CEO Michael Ströll.
“I’m grateful to the FCA management for granting my wish to make this move. I believe Elversberg offers the right environment for me to develop both as a player and as a person. Of course, I’ll continue keeping my fingers crossed for FCA,” added Lasse Günther.
