Ji moves on loan to Darmstadt

The South Korea international Dong-Won Ji has extended his contract at FC Augsburg by another year until 30th June 2019. However, the 26-year-old will not be wearing FCA colours for the second half of the 2017/2018 season, as he has been loaned out to SV Darmstadt 98 until the end of the season. Both sides have not enclosed the details of the loan. “I have a big goal this year, and that’s to represent my home county this summer at the World Cup in Russia. If I want to make the squad I’ll need game time, which I didn’t manage to get in the Hinrunde, so this is the logical move for me,” explained Ji about his short term switch. “We understand that Ji really wants to represent his country in the World Cup. So we wanted to give him the best opportunity to do so by allowing him to leave on loan,” said FCA’s sporting director, Stefan Reuter. “We hope that he can realise his dream of going to the World Cup and comes back to us an even better player than he was before.”
