FC Augsburg have signed former Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann as an assistant coach. Lehmann, who has previously spent time as an assistant coach to Arsène Wenger at former club Arsenal, has signed a contract until the end of the 2019/2020 season. Lehmann joins Tobias Zellner, Michael Wimmer and Jonas Scheuermann as part of FCA head coach Manuel Baum’s coaching team. “I am delighted to announce that Jens Lehmann will join the club as an assistant coach. He is an expert of the game, who possesses a lot of experience,” said FCA head coach Manuel Baum. “I look forward to working with him and I’m sure he will enhance our team and our work on and off the pitch.” “A coaching team has to work on so many diverse and thorough tasks. Therefore, we came to the conclusion that we wanted to expand our coaching team to specialise into different activities. Appointing Jens Lehmann is absolutely incredible! He will work alongside Manuel Baum to develop our squad each day both on and off the pitch.” ‘FC Augsburg have developed incredibly in recent years. This is a brilliant opportunity for me to work as an assistant coach in the Bundesliga and to help the players reach their potential on the pitch,” said Jens Lehmann. Jens Lehmann will join the coaching team and participate in FC Augsburg training for the first time on Tuesday, 29th January (11:00 CET). The players will train on the pitches next to the WWK ARENA.
