Jeffrey Gouweleeuw to remain captain of FCA
Trio of vice-captains
Jeffrey Gouweleeuw will retain the captain's armband for the 2025/26 season. The club announced the decision ahead of their final pre-season friendlies this upcoming weekend. The Dutchman will be supported by three vice-captains: Phillip Tietz, Kristijan Jakić and goalkeeper Finn Dahmen.
"I'm delighted to continue wearing the armband for the new season. It's a huge honour and a big responsibility, which I'm happy to take on. Together, we want to do everything we can as a team in order to be successful this season," said Gouweleeuw, who has captained the side since January 2016.
FCA will play two friendlies this upcoming weekend. On Friday, the team will take on Serie A side Pisa SC (17:00 CEST), before hosting newly-promoted Premier League outfit AFC Sunderland on Saturday (15:00 CEST). Head coach Sandro Wagner's side will contest their first competitive match of the season on Sunday, 17th August (18:00 CEST) in the first round of the DFB-Pokal at Hallescher FC.
