Herrlich: "You need goals to win games"

FCA were beaten 2-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday evening. "It felt like everything went against us today," assessed head coach Heiko Herrlich. Reaction to the match against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Alfred Finnbogason: "No question, I accept the blame for the penalty. If I score that goal, we’re back in the game. After that, Ruben Vargas hit the post. But we were good from the start and had our chances. You can never be happy to lose 2-0. The situation is serious and if you don’t get point, it gets even tighter. But we have it in our own hands, we know the situation and that we need to pick up results. The next important match is on Friday against Cologne and we want to win."
Rafal Gikiewicz: "We’ve not scored in three games now and today we didn’t defend well for their goals. Despite that we could have gotten fresh wind with then penalty. But we didn’t score it. We win together and lose together. Which is why we’ll keep our heads high and do better against Cologne on Friday."
Carlos Gruezo: "We started the game well. The foul on Marco was a red in my eyes. If the ref makes a different decision, the game probably tips in our favour. We’re in a difficult situation, so it’s so important to stay positive. Nothing else will help us right now. We win together and lose together. Now the focus is fully on Friday night against Cologne."
Heiko Herrlich: "It felt like everything went against us today. We started well, then Martin Hinteregger fouled Marco Richter and in my opinion it’s completely incomprehensible how it wasn’t a red card. Then of all players, Hinteregger, who shouldn’t even be on the pitch, scores the opener for Frankfurt. After the break we missed a penalty and later hit the post. Our performance was okay, but we have to acknowledge the fact that we’ve not scored in our last three games. And you happen to need goals if you want to win games and pick up points. I think we saw today that we’ve got a broad squad where everyone has a chance to prove themselves. The competition with in the squad has grown with people returning from injuries as well."
Adi Hütter: "Credit to FC Augsburg, who made life extremely difficult for us today and defended deep. If you talk about showing a reaction before the game it’s important to actually show one as well. We did that today. Martin Hinteregger’s goal was definitely the turning point. We were lucky to still have him on the pitch after his foul on Marco Richter. Augsburg are a really unpleasant team who don’t concede a lot of goals – this was a really important 2-0 win for us."
