"It all comes down to this game"

On Saturday, 20th April at 15:30 CEST, FC Augsburg face VfB Stuttgart in the WWK Arena with the chance to pull even further away from the relegation zone. Michael Gregoritsch wants to add to his long-awaited goal in Frankfurt. Michael Gregoritsch turns 25 on Thursday, but treated himself to his first gift on Sunday in Frankfurt with the goal to make it 3-1, ending his 14 game goal drought and securing a vital win for FCA. The arrival of new head coach Martin Schmidt gave Gregoritsch and Co. a new lease of life: "It did some of us a lot of good to hear from a new coach. He gave us courage ahead of the game and presented new tactical solutions. We were able to implement these really well in the game and we obviously hope to carry that forward into the next game," said Gregoritsch. Same performance needed against Stuttgart Despite Gregoritsch’s goal, it was another player who made the headlines against Frankfurt: Marco Richter’s first-half brace sent Augsburg on their way to victory against an Eintracht Frankfurt side, previously unbeaten in the league in 2019. Richter has now scored all three of his Bundesliga goals against the Eagles. Michael Gregoritsch hopes this will change soon, however: "I was extremely happy for Marco when he scored his two goals. We’ll try and convince him on Saturday that we’re playing against Frankfurt again, maybe then he’ll score again." The upcoming game against VfB Stuttgart is certainly of great importance to FCA. Another three points will leave the side ten clear of the relegation playoff spot. Unsurprisingly, Gregoritsch has another birthday wish: a home win on Saturday. "It all comes down to this game. The team and I know how important it is. We want to go into the game confidently and need the same performance we put in against Frankfurt," he said.
