A number of FC Augsburg players have been in action with their national teams recently. Michael Gregoritsch scored against Croatia, whilst Frederik Winther had success with Denmark U21s.

FCA’s top goalscorer in 2021/22, Michael Gregoritsch, has had a mixed start to the new UEFA Nations League season. He scored in Austria’s 3-0 win in Croatia (3rd June), just nine minutes after coming off the bench. He also came on as a substitute in their second game, at home to Denmark (6th June). He couldn’t prevent Ralf Rangnick’s side from losing 2-1 at home. Their next two games are against France (10th June) and Denmark again (13th June).

Carlos Gruezo and Ecuador are currently playing friendlies in the United States. The FCA midfielder was rested for the game against Nigeria (2nd June), but returned to play the full 90 minutes in a goalless draw against Mexico (5th June). Their last friendly during this international break is against Mali on 11th June.

Frederik Winther and Denmark U21s are fighting to qualify for next year’s European Championship. They enjoyed a 3-0 win over Kazakhstan (4th June), with the defender playing the full match. Denmark, currently in second, have a good chance of making the tournament. Their next two matches are against Scotland (10th June) and Turkey (14th June).

Ruben Vargas endured a disappointing evening with Switzerland. His side were beaten 4-0 in Portugal and the winger couldn’t play after picking up a muscular injury during the warm-up.
