Gouweleeuw remains FCA captain, Caligiuri new vice-captain

Ahead of Saturday’s dress rehearsal against Ligue 1 club Stade Rennes, FCA head coach Enrico Maaßen confirmed important personnel decisions at the club. Jeffrey Gouweleeuw will continue the wear the captain’s armband for FC Augsburg in the 2022/23 season, with Daniel Caligiuri his new vice-captain.
Gouweleeuw has captains FCA since 2019, while Caligiuri succeeds Alfred Finnbogason as his deputy. The five-man team council, which is selected by the players themselves, is completed by Felix Uduokhai, André Hahn and Niklas Dorsch.
