FC Augsburg have started preparation for the second half of the season, which begins on Saturday, January 18, (3:30 p.m.) with a home game against Borussia Dortmund. In a unit on the training ground at the WWK ARENA, the players once again got a touch on the ball for the first time according since the turn of the year.

Also injured before the winter break were players like Alfred Finnbogason, Marek Suchy, Carlos Gruezo, Felix Götze, Raphael Framberger, who are still working individually. All that was missing were Maurice Malone and Reece Oxford, both of whom have a cold. The Brazilian Iago was also absent after he was nominated for his country's U23 squad and will take part in the South American qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Colombia.

Training camp in Malta

After the start of the training session on Saturday, Martin Schmidt's side travelled to a weeklong training camp on the Mediterranean island of Malta on Sunday. There, the team will prepare for the second half of the season up to and including Saturday, January 11th. As part of the training camp, FCA will also play two friendlies. On Thursday, January 9th (3:00 p.m.), the FCA will play against the Maltese club Hibernians FC before the next day (3:00 p.m.) against the Belgian first division club Cercle Brugge. Both friendlies take place in the Maltese national stadium Ta ’Qali Stadium.
