FCA sign Moritz Leitner

First Team 31.01.2017, 17:11
FC Augsburg were active in the final hours of the winter transfer window, as they announced the signing of Moritz Leitner. The midfielder already played for FCA in the 2010/11 season, when he was on loan from BVB. That campaign, he played nine times and helped FCA to win promotion to the Bundesliga. This time however, Moritz has transferred from Italian side Lazio, with the 24 year old signing a contract with Augsburg until 2021. Neither club has disclosed information regarding the transfer fee. "At FC Augsburg, when we have the chance to sign a young, talented, German player, who already has some experience of the game and has already displayed his strengths in the Bundesliga, we have to act," said sporting director Stefan Reuter. "We're convinced Moritz Leitner will help our team over the coming years." "My first spell at FCA, which was crowned with promotion to the Bundesliga, was terrific. I only have positive memories of it so it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to take this opportunity to return to the Bundesliga. I'd like to thank everyone involved for their confidence and I look forward to getting to know the team and being able to wear the FCA shirt for a long time," commented Leitner shortly after signing. The new signing will wear the No. 5.
