Shortly after their successful start to the Bundesliga season, FC Augsburg have added further depth to their squad. Attacking midfielder Anton Kade has joined the Fuggerstädter from FC Basel and has signed a contract until 30th June 2029. Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the transfer fee.

Born in Berlin, Kade came through the youth ranks at Hertha BSC, finishing as a runner-up in the U19 Bundesliga with them. He went on to make four Bundesliga appearances for the Berliners before moving to Basel in July 2022. With the reigning Swiss double winners, he made a total of 107 competitive appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists. Kade has also represented Germany across various youth levels, most recently earning six caps for the U20s.

Kade: “FCA is the perfect next step for me”

“In Anton Kade, we’ve signed a player who fits our team extremely well. He can play in various attacking roles and, despite being only 21, already has the experience of over 100 competitive games for Basel. With his qualities, he adds a valuable component to our squad,” said FCA sporting director Benni Weber.

“I’m really excited about returning to Germany. My time in Basel was an important experience for me, but I see FCA as the perfect next step in my personal development. The talks with the coaching staff and the management completely convinced me. My aim is to settle in quickly and enjoy a successful season together with the team,” commented Anton Kade, who will wear the number 30 shirt for FCA.
