FCA players called up for international duty
Ahead of the final stage of the Bundesliga season, The FCA players will travel around the world for one final international break. Some of those players will be starting the qualification period for Euro 2020.
Alfred Finnbogason and Iceland will be hoping to qualify for the European Championship. On Friday, 22nd March they will take on Andorra, before facing France on Monday, 25th March. Fredrick Jensen will also be in international action with his nation, Finland, who will also be hoping to qualify for the Euros. Firstly, they play Italy (Saturday, 23rd March) and then away against Armenia (Tuesday, 26th March). Austria and Michael Gregoritsch are desperate to take part in a major tournament again. They host Poland (Thursday, 21st March) and will then to Israel (Sunday, 24th March). It’s not yet clear, whether or not the 24-year-old will be fit, as he missed the 3-1 win over Hannover with a cold on Saturday.
Friendlies also on the card
Sergio Cordova is in the Venezuela squad for their friendlies, although he won’t have to travel to South America. The first game is against Argentina in Spain (Friday, 22nd March), then against Catalonia (Monday, 25th March). Dong-Won Ji, on the other hand, will have to make a long journey during the international break. His South Korean side has two friendlies scheduled at home. They will play against Bolivia (Friday, 22nd March) and then Colombia (Tuesday, 26th March). There are several Augsburg players who will be representing their countries at youth level too. One of those is Kevin Danso, an Austrian U21 international. His side will first face Italy (Thursday, 21st March), before meeting Spain (Monday, 25th March). Augsburg’s players are also in action for Germany youth teams. Simon Asta is in the U18 squad which will travel to France (Wednesday, 20th March and Saturday 23rd March). Marco Richter has made the U21s side and will face France (Thursday, 21st March) and England (Tuesday, 26th March). Felix Götze had been selected by the U20s, but has pulled out of the squad due to hip problems.
