FCA extend Marcel Lubik’s contract and send goalkeeper on loan to Wisła Kraków
Academy graduate to gain further first-team experience in Poland
FC Augsburg have extended academy graduate Marcel Lubik’s contract until 30th June 2029. The 22-year-old goalkeeper, who joined FCA’s academy in 2018, will spend the coming season on loan at Polish giants Wisła Kraków, where he will continue his development with regular first-team football at a high level.
Lubik has spent the past two seasons on loan in his native Poland, first with GKS Tychy and then Górnik Zabrze. He won the Polish Cup with Górnik last season and also helped them finish runners-up in the league. Lubik made 36 competitive appearances as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, keeping 13 clean sheets. He received his first call-up to the Poland U21 squad in October 2025 and has since made five appearances at that level for his country.
“Marcel has made excellent progress over the past few years. He won the Polish Cup with Górnik Zabrze and produced some strong performances as their first-choice goalkeeper,” said FCA sporting director Benni Weber. “This contract extension demonstrates the faith we have in him and our belief that he can play an important role at FCA in the future. We wish him every success during his loan spell in Kraków.”
Marcel Lubik added: “I’m delighted with the faith FCA have shown in me and with this contract extension. Last season in the Polish Ekstraklasa was hugely important for my development, and I’m convinced that the move to Kraków will help me take another step forward. My ultimate aim remains to establish myself at FC Augsburg and become a regular Bundesliga player.”
