At FCA since 2016

First Team 08.05.2025, 15:30

Academy goalkeeper Tobias Jäger has signed a professional contract valid until 30th June 2028 at FC Augsburg. He has therefore become the sixth player from FCA’s academy to put pen to paper on a long-term deal this season.

The 20-year-old has played 23 times for the club’s U23s in the fourth-tier Regionalliga Bayern this season. Jäger has regularly trained with the first team and was part of the squad to travelled to South Africa for a pre-season training camp last summer, featuring in one of the friendlies. The goalkeeper appeared 20 times in all competitions for FCA’s U19s last season.

10th season at the club

Jäger has been on the books of Augsburg since 2016 and has played for all age groups since joining the U12s. He will continue to play for the U23s next season and will be the first team’s fourth-choice goalkeeper as he continues his development.

Sporting director Marinko Jurendic said: “Tobias Jäger is the next academy player to receive a clear plan for his future. He will regularly train with our first team as he is introduced to the top level, while also still getting regular minutes in the fourth division. Another player from our academy, who has been at the club for a number of years, remaining at FCA fits perfectly with our club and development philosophy.”

“Going into my tenth season at FCA with a long-term contract and an exciting plan for my future makes me really proud. I’m thankful for the club’s faith and I’m looking forward to continuing my development here. I will work hard every day and help the team to be successful”, commented Tobias Jäger.
