FC Augsburg have given 19-year-old goalkeeeping talent Marcel Lubik a long-term professional contract until 30th June 2026, with an option for FCA to further extend the deal. The FCA academy product has already trained regularly with the first team during the 2022/23 season and is yet another player from Augsburg’s academy to make the step up to the first team.

“I am pleased to be able to sign my first professional contract at FC Augsburg. The club has shown again and again that they will give young players the opportunity to develop themselves. Obviously, I have to and will continue to work hard on myself in order to get closer, step by step, to my dream of playing in the Bundesliga in an Augsburg shirt,” said Marcel Lubik who won the U19 Bundesliga South/South West with Augsburg during the 2021/22 season.

“Marcel Lubik has already shown the qualities he has, both in his appearances for our youth teams and in first team training. We are pleased that Marcel Lubik wants to take the next step of his still young career here with us at FCA. We will give him targeted support and carefully continue to introduce him to first team football,” said Stefan Reuter, FCA’s sporting director.

In the shape of Aaron Zehnter, a eleventh player from the FCA academy celebrated his Bundesliga debut in the season just gone. 17-year-old Mert Kömür has also recently signed his first professional contract.
