Collaboration in youth development

Last summer, as part of the DFL project “Bundesliga Dream,” selected youth footballers from Thailand visited FC Augsburg. During their stay, they had the chance to train with FCA, gain insights into professional football behind the scenes and enjoy many other unique experiences. This visit laid the foundation for a three-year partnership that FCA has now entered into with Thailand’s record league and cup champions, Buriram United F.C. The partnership, which was officially announced today (Wednesday) in Buriram, focuses on collaboration in youth development and supporting young talent.

“We’re really looking forward to the partnership with Buriram United F.C., which offers exciting opportunities for both clubs. After the successful implementation of ‘Bundesliga Dream’, this partnership is a logical next step”, said Michael Ströll, CEO of FCA.

Pierre Lemmermeyer, member of FCA’s executive board, said: “Buriram United are by far the most popular and successful club in Thailand. Both clubs will benefit from the collaboration by gaining access to new resources, expertise and international networks, and by supporting each other’s growth.”

Exchange of knowledge through FC Augsburg coaches

Coaches from the FCA academy will travel regularly to Thailand to share their expertise with Buriram Academy coaches as part of various workshops, in order to help support the development of young talents at the Buriram Academy. Selected youth players will then receive the chance to visit the FCA academy and to earn valuable experience abroad, in addition to participating in training sessions. Additionally, coaches from Buriram United will travel to Augsburg in order to shadow their counterparts at FCA and gain an insight into the club’s training processes and youth development activities. Furthermore, the plan is to host football camps in partnership with the Buriram Soccer School, which will be led by coaches from both clubs.

"This three-year co-operation will help train our talented young players to become professionals. It will improve the knowledge and training of our coaching staff at Buriram United Academy and raise our football standards. We will exchange knowledge between the youth coaches of both clubs to raise our training to international standards and ensure continuous learning about modern football. This co-operation will build a bridge between Thai and German football culture," said Chonchanok Chidchob, Deputy Managing Director and Director of Football at Buriram United.

FC Augsburg's involvement also supports the German Football League's (DFL) goal of raising the profile of the Bundesliga in strategically important foreign markets.

About Buriram United F.C
