September 2026

Club 22.04.2026, 16:15

All eyes will be on Augsburg later this year. The Germany national team will head down to the WWK ARENA on Sunday, 27th September 2026, for their first home game after this summer’s World Cup. In the UEFA Nations League, head coach Julian Nagelsmann’s side will face Greece, with kick-off scheduled for 20:45 CEST.

Ten years after the national team last ran out in Augsburg, Germany are returning to the Fuggerstadt. Their only international fixture in the WWK ARENA to date saw them face Slovakia on 29th May 2016 in the run up to EURO 2016.

“We’re absolutely delighted that the Germany national team are heading to Augsburg for their Nations League game against Greece. It’s a truly special thing for FC Augsburg to play host to Germany’s first home game following the World Cup this summer. It’s also a resounding endorsement of Augsburg as a home for football. We would like to express our gratitude to the DFB for choosing Augsburg for this occasion, and we’re convinced that our Arena will provide a fantastic atmosphere on the night,” said Michael Ströll, CEO at FC Augsburg.

The matchup between Germany and Greece already has a degree of history in Augsburg. Sixty-five years ago, on 22nd October 1961, the West Germany national side hosted Greece at a sold-out Rosenaustadion in a World Cup qualifier. In front of 43,000 spectators, the hosts ran out 2-1 winners. Included in the West Germany squad that day was a young Helmut Haller, who at the time was playing for BC Augsburg.

More information surrounding ticket sales for the meeting on 27th September will be released at a later date. Right now, though, fans have the opportunity to sign up for the ticket newsletter in the DFB’s ticket shop, in order to receive timely updates about when the ticket pre-sale will begin.
