Four FC Augsburg players were in action for their national teams on Wednesday. While new signing Andi Zeqiri celebrated his senior Switzerland debut, Ruben Vargas bagged the winning goal.
Ruben Vargas and Andi Zeqiri were up against Greece in their international friendly fixture with Switzerland. Vargas was brought on in the 45th minute and scored the winning goal (2-1) six minutes later. In addition to new Switzerland head coach Murat Yakin, FCA new boy Andi Zeqiri also celebrated his debut for the senior national team – he was brought on in the 70th minute.
In what was his 30th international cap for Austria, Michael Gregoritsch enjoyed a 2-0 qualifer win against Moldova. The FCA man started the game and was taken off in the 62nd minute. Austria’s win has them sitting in third place in the qualifying group.
Elsewhere, Fredrik Jensen featured for the Finland national team in a 0-0 friendly draw against Wales, starting the game and playing until the 65th minute
Tonight (Thursday 2nd September), another FCA boy is in international action as Carlos Gruezo and the Ecuador national team take on Paraguay at 23:00 CEST.
